Richard Heiniger - Alaska 2018 Summer

During the month of August, 2018 I got had the pleasure of joining my cousin Steve Heiniger, his wife Sonja and their sons Benjamin and Jonathan for a fishing trip! The fishing was good. Caught our limit every day of beautiful Salmon. We were hosted by the Riversong Lodge near Skventna, AK. The hospitality was just amazing. Owners and staff were so accommodating in every way, and the food was absolutely 5 star.

While the trip was mostly about family and fishing, I did get a chance to get out and do some shooting. I spent one day in the Anchorage / Palmer area. I spent the day on my own, but toured with Jody Overstreet at Alaska Photo Treks to visit several good spots in the Anchorage area. Here are a few of my pictures. These are all available in print form and would look fantastic on a large canvas.

McHugh Creek is located in the the Chugach State Park and is home to large wildlife populations including bear.

Turnagain Arm is a waterway into the northwestern part of the Gulf of Alaska. It is one of two narrow branches at the north end of Cook Inlet, the other being Knik Arm.

Potter Marsh is a Coastal Wildlife Refuge. The vast majority of the refuge is located on the intertidal floodplains of glacial silt, with a smaller portion consisting of coastal wetlands, bogs, wooded areas.
